European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron charged the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans targeted figures who have been central to efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to pressure US companies to suppress US perspectives they disagree with,” stated a senior US official in a social media post. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials supported the French president in criticizing the decision.
